Ruth Crawford Mitchel Czech/Slovak Fellowship
The Nationality Rooms Program is proud to announce the availability of the annual Ruth Crawford Mitchell Fellowship which will enable a Czech or Slovak professional to conduct research at the University of Pittsburgh during the 2018 Fall Term (late August to mid-December 2018). The amount of the award is $7,000. The submission deadline is March 30, 2018. Applications require a reference from a University of Pittsburgh faculty member who will serve as a mentor to the scholar. The project is called “Design the Ultimate Urban Greenhouse”.
What is the goal of the project? To prepare an innovative and functional design of a professional greenhouse-based urban agricultural production, so-called urban greenhouse, which will provide food to the neighborhood. The inclusion of local and renewable energy sources and motivation for so-called circular city is important part of sustainable design.
Who are we looking for? Doctoral or Master's students who are interested in sustainable development and design and who could create a team for project. The fields we need to include for the project are greenhouse systems; plant production; urban agriculture; ecology; renewable energy sources, waste systems and their use; environmental economics; information systems ... and others.
Within this project we aim to share ideas, knowledge and experiences and besides that to also have fun together for successful realization of the project.

Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science, HELSUS
Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science, HELSUS (www.helsinki.fi/en/helsinki-institute-of-sustainability-science), is a new cross-faculty research unit in sustainability science at the University of Helsinki. The mission of the institute is to contribute to sustainability transformations of the societies by means of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research and education. The research focuses in particular on urban studies, consumption and production, and Global South and Arctic contexts. There are around 50 professors and more than 60 researchers associated to the institute in the HELSUS faculties.

The Fulbright Scholarship
The Fulbright-Masaryk Scholarship is designed for scientists (at least in the doctoral program) who are excellent professionals in their field and are active in the civic or public life of their institutions or communities (non-profit organizations) as well as Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk was. This program (3 to 10 months) is provided in three categories where Ph.D. status obtained before or after the closing date is deciding:
- Doctoral for students of doctoral studies
- Postdoctoral for those who have obtained Ph.D. at the closing date for submission of applications not more than 5 years ago
- Senior for those who have obtained Ph.D. or its older equivalent more than 5 years ago.
The deadline for submitting applications is November 1 for study visit in the next academic year, starting in the USA until the end of the next calendar year. The dates of the tenders: Junior category (for candidates in the doctoral program) – February 7, 2018, post-doc and senior category – February 7 – 16, 2018.
The Fulbright Scholarship for Research and Lecturing supports long-term study visits (3 - 10 months) for Czech scientists and university lecturers in the USA to conduct research and lectures in any field except clinical medicine. Prerequisite is Ph.D. or its equivalent, successful scientific or university educational activity and invitation from the American partners. The closing date for applications is also November 1, and the tender will probably take place on February 12 - 16, 2018.

Internships for career support for graduates in German companies
In cooperation with the Czech-German Chamber of Commerce, we are looking for students who want to get experience at a workplace designed to support the export activities of chamber members. Students can increase their chances in the labour market with this practise. The internship takes 8 hours a week for period of 6 weeks. The internship will be confirmed by a Chamber certificate and a recommendation for future employers. The content of work is predominantly working with German written texts on the Internet and outputs in the form of tables and written texts in Czech. The workplace of the Chamber is in Prague, but home office is also possible. There is a possibility of extending mutual cooperation to some form of job contract suitable for students.

Recently, two interactive seminars with the representative of Australian Monash University, Andrew Peters, have taken place in the Czech Republic. Scholarship for study stay in Bavaria for one year
We would like to inform you about deadline for request for scholarship concerning the study stay in Bavaria for one year with 3 year extension option. The scholarship is for funding of master or doctoral program at Bavarian public university. The scholarship is awarded for one academic year in Bavaria during doctoral study at Czech public university. The amount of the scholarship is up to 735 € per month.
