Dívčí hrady … everything goes according to the plan

The project of the reintroduction of the Chapman's blue (Polyommatus thersites) is progressing well. Thanks to the project entitled "Dívčí hrady: taking care of the site of the reintroduced Chapman's blue " supported by a grant from the City of Prague, we can be sure that the care of the reintroduced population will continue in 2020 and 2021. Currently, you can observe several dozen individuals (the spring generation) at the Dívčí hrady site every sunny day (until the second half of June). Don't be afraid that butterflies are marked (see pictures), it doesn't hurt them in any way (when the marking is performed by an experienced entomologist). The identification codes on the wings help us to obtain the detailed information on butterfly’s behaviour and calculate the exact population size (a preliminary estimate is several hundred adults in the spring generation of 2020).
