The Dívčí hrady project is growing

Following the establishment of Onobrychis viciifolia patches in the last year, the project of the reintroduction of the Chapman's blue (Polyommatus thersites) continued by importing the first Chapman's blue individuals from the české středohoří area. We introduced small caterpillars that were bred in our laboratories and offices at the FES-CZU. Onobrychis plants are growing nicely, and some blues survived, but further improvement of the area is necessary. In the future, we plan to improve the management of the area, diversifying the mowing regime of Onobrychis patches as well as the surrounding grassy matrix to enhance nectar availability throughout the growing season.
