Project aims
1. collect and process data on different types of springs, including restorated,
2. create a publicly accessible, editable database of springs, usable by local public authorities,
3. set up appropriate metrics for evaluating the existing / former spring area restoration/degradation in the field on a smaller set of spring areas and testing them on a larger set of about 200 spring areas,
4. evaluate the importance of springs and their protection in an ecosystem services study and analyze legislative and subsidy tools relevant to a strategy for protection and restoration of these ecosystems,
5. apply the BACI (before-after, control-impact) method in practice on a few selected springs where minor restoration measures will be carried out during the project.
