About the project

Project number: CZ.02.01.01/00/22_010/0008587
Project title: WaCoRe - Woody Plant Water Content Assessment via Microwave Corner Reflection
Funded by: Ministry of Education (MŠMT ČR)
Host institution: Teschnische University Dresden
Principal Investigator at CZU: David Moravec
Project manager:  Kateřina Hájková
Duration: 1.9.2024 - 31.8.2026
Budget: 4 451 360 Kč

Annotation:
The aim of the project is to develop a new method for monitoring the condition of forest stands using microwave satellite imaging with the application of artificial or natural corner reflectors. This method could, in the future, enable more accurate estimates of moisture content, water potential, health status, biomass, and many other forest parameters anywhere in the world. The project is being carried out at TU Dresden, where the principal investigator holds the position of Postdoctoral Researcher.
