Research project on acceptance of coal mining in Australia

Kamila Svobodova is a principal investigator and grant-holder for a research project funded by the Czech National Science Foundation. The project aims to better understand the complex institutional and political contexts that shape public acceptance of coal mining in the Czech Republic, Australia and Poland. Within the Australian part of the GACR project, the Czech researches collaborate with The University of Queensland in Brisbane to investigate involvement of different types of organizations in coal-mining policy in New South Wales. Kamila and Petr are running face-to-face interviews with representatives of various organizations in New South Wales, such as state institutions, non-governmental organizations, academic organizations, and mining industries. The project will continue in Poland in collaboration with Silesian University in Katowice to provide valuable insights into political contexts and their role in acceptance of coal mining.
