Water in the City: Where Does a Raindrop Go and Why Should We Care?

In the latest episode of the Full of Life Podcast, Professor Dana Komínková explores several important questions: What happens to a raindrop when it falls on asphalt, a roof, or a pavement? And how does the way cities manage stormwater affect the quality of rivers, streams, and the environment around us?

The discussion also covers the IDEAL project, which focuses on water protection, educating future professionals, and raising public awareness of water as a valuable and limited natural resource. The project connects experts from the Czech Republic and Saxony, fostering cross-border cooperation in addressing current water management challenges.

In the interview, Professor Komínková explains why urban drainage is one of the key issues facing modern cities, how urbanisation impacts watercourses, and what each of us can do to contribute to more sustainable water management.

Listen to this inspiring conversation about water—a resource we often take for granted—and discover connections that remain hidden beneath the surface at first glance. The podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. A link to the YouTube episode can be found below.
