Employ of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi for pharmaceuticals in constructed wetlands

Bo Hu from Jan Vymazal's Wetlands Group has published new article called "Employ of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi for pharmaceuticals ibuprofen and diclofenac removal in mesocosm-scale constructed wetlands" in the Journal of Hazardous Materials. Researchers mainly found that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can improve effluent quality from constructed wetlands, increased antioxidant enzymes of host plants to decrease oxidative damages and promoted the accumulation of ibuprofen and diclofenac in the rhizosphere. In conclusion, these results indicated that AMF plays a promising role in constructed wetlands for emerging pollutants removal.
