New project investigating the impacts of flower strips on invertebrate assemblages and ecosystem services provision was launched

At the beginning of May, we started a new project in the cooperation with the company VIN AGRO s.r.o. investigating the impacts of flower strips on invertebrate assemblages and related ecosystem services (pollination, predation of pests and weed seeds, parasitism and decomposition of organic matter in soil). In the years 2020 and 2021, 60 hectares of flower strips will be sown on the arable lands cultivated by the company VINAGRO s.r.o. This year, we would like to investigate the baseline state of invertebrate diversity and ecosystems services levels before flower strip establishment. We plan to repeat our sampling procedures in the following years and, hopefully, we will find positive effects of flower strips on invertebrates and ecosystem services provision.
