Our data collection investigating the effects of urbanization on dragonfly physiology and carry-over effects across study sites in Prague, the Pilsen region, and the Sedlčany region is successfully approaching its final stage. Over the past months, we visited dozens of study sites, collected hundreds of samples, and spent countless hours in the field. The season proved more challenging than expected, with weather conditions frequently disrupting our sampling plans and testing our persistence.Despite these challenges, we gathered a unique dataset that will help us better understand how urban environments influence dragonfly condition and physiology, and whether conditions experienced during the aquatic larval stage carry over into adult life. The next step is laboratory processing and data analysis. We look forward to seeing what the data reveal!
A big thank you to all colleagues, students, and collaborators who contributed to the fieldwork!
