Martin interviewed in Živá univerzita

Fireflies are a symbol of the coming summer, and especially on Midsummer's Eve we can observe the unprecedented activity of fireflies in nature. It may be surprising that they could also be found in the territory of the capital. This year, scientists from the Department of Ecology, Faculty of the Environment of the Czech University of Applied Sciences set out to map Prague's fireflies and came up with interesting results. The two-year project Prague is looking for fireflies is funded by the Municipality of Prague. A team of scientists has selected dozens of locations, and they are now verifying them and trying to involve the public as part of Citizen Science. The project manager is Ing. Martin Novák, Ph.D., who professionally deals with forensic entomology, but fireflies are his great love and long-term interest.
