This year, we continued data collection within a network of experimental field margins established in agricultural landscapes. These margins divide large arable fields into smaller units and comprise several sections sown with six seed mixtures differing in grass-to-forb ratios and overall plant species diversity. The aim of the experiment is to evaluate how these mixtures influence pollinator and other invertebrate biodiversity, vegetation composition, weed development, and the long-term management potential of field margins designed to support biodiversity. At the end of June, we completed the first sampling period of the season, which was immediately followed by management interventions in individual margins, including mowing and mulching. As in previous years, the experimental margins were characterized by abundant flowering and high activity of insects and other groups of invertebrates.
We would like to thank the agricultural companies VIN agro, Agro Slatiny a.s., Agrivep a.s., and ZD Liběšice for their long-term cooperation.
