Fieldwork on the Sokolov post-mining sites

Team of Alena Walmsley started in July field measurements at the Velká Podkrušnohorská spoil heap near Sokolov. On selected sites reclaimed with forestry reclamations they were measuring soil compaction, infiltration capacity, earthworm abundance and they collected samples for further analyses. Pavla Vachová then counted plant species and assessed their coverage in phytocenological relevés. The team will continue these measurements in August planning to assess around 30 sites this year.
