Czech-Colombian cooperation in environmental topics has begun

On December 9, 2019, the FES organized a workshop focused on the possibilities of Czech-Colombian cooperation in the field of biodiversity research, climate change and water management. The workshop was a follow-up to the initiated discussions on environmental issues during the spring diplomatic mission to Peru and Colombia, to which representatives of the FES accompanied Czech Minister of the Environment Richard Brabec. The workshop and the following weekly program were attended by representatives of the leading Colombian universities - Prof. Gerard Olivar Tost and Edier V. Aristizábal G. of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and Johnny Valencia Calvo of the Universidad de Medellín. The workshop as well as the subsequent discussions of teams of specialists aimed at specific projects focused on hydrology, use of biochar, satellite data and monitoring systems of unique Colombian fauna.
