We started the second half of the year with grazing at the Makču Pikču site, where the herd grazed for about three weeks. Then, we moved the animals to Dívčí hrady (Mektovy stráně), where grazing continued until the end of September, and we ended our year-long marathon with the animals back at the Asuán site, where the second grazing of the year took place. In addition to grazing, we focused on the maintenance of fences and mowing non-grazed areas (on all three sites!). In September, we carried out blackberry bush clearance at Mektovy Stráně, and at the beginning of November, we organized an event with children from FZŠ Otokara Chlupa at Asuán, where we gathered biomass after mowing the second part of the mosaic and non-grazed areas. At Makču Pikču, we didn’t slow down either. Besides all the activities mentioned, we also carried out black locust injection treatments, cut back rose root sprouts, and pruned dead trees to support biodiversity while ensuring they didn’t pose a hazard to the public. Additionally, we created an experimental sand dune, which we hope will serve as a nesting site for solitary bees by spring 2026.
