Since April, we have been carrying out a series of educational activities focused on supporting pollinators in urban environments. The programme combines environmental education with hands-on experience and demonstrations of modern technologies. Participants gain insight into the ecology of pollinators, their importance for ecosystem functioning and human well-being, and explore ways to support them in urban settings—such as school gardens, parks, and residential areas. The programme also includes the demonstration and installation of an automated insect monitoring device (Insect Detect), designed to track insect activity. Activities are tailored to different age groups, ranging from building simple insect shelters to exploring the basics of programming using the Micro:bit platform. The programme is continuously complemented by field-based sessions, where participants observe and identify live insects in their local environment, linking newly acquired knowledge with direct experience.
