Finally an entertaining experiment in the laboratory of ecophysiology

Audience only rarely attends to our laboratory of ecophysiology. However, there were quite a number of visitors during the 'necrophilic experiment'. It is surprising how amused were colleagues watching ladybird males trying (often very successfully) to have sex with dead females. It seems that necrophilia is quite a common phenomenon in harlequin ladybirds and our research will reveal other expected and unexpected details of this strange behaviour, rare in the animal kingdom (you have something to look forward to :-)).
