Findings from the first wildflower strip project

We have published an officially approved methodology designed to support decision-making by public authorities, farmers, and other stakeholders on how to establish and manage wildflower strips in the Czech Republic. As part of this, we have also produced a simple, practical brochure tailored specifically for farmers. Download the approved guidelines here.

In addition, we successfully published a scientific article in the prestigious journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B, describing the effects of establishing wildflower strips on ground-dwelling arthropod communities and the ecosystem services they provide. Our findings show that the positive effects of wildflower strips on epigeic invertebrates increase with the age of the strip, though the influence on adjacent crop areas remains limited. We extend our sincere thanks to VIN AGRO s.r.o. and all their staff for their invaluable cooperation on this project — it would not have been possible without them! Read the original article here.

Supported by the project: Efficient support of biodiversity in agricultural landscapes using perennial wildflower strips (SS05010123).
