Light pollution as a threat to the overwintering of the Chiasmia clathrata

Tom Kadlec has put Dívčí hrady on the map of the moth world! In a study published in the Journal of Applied Ecology, Tom, in collaboration with Finnish colleagues, showed that even minimal light pollution (with an intensity of 0.7 lux) leads to changes in the life cycle of the latticed heath moth. For Central European populations, even minimal light pollution led to the omission of diapause, which can have drastic negative impacts on the overwintering success of these individuals. Congratulations, Tom, and we look forward to further research on light pollution!
