From May to July 2026, Vít Šťovíček joined Dr. Carmelo Cammalleri at Politecnico di Milano for a research internship focused on advancing methods for analysing spatiotemporal drought dynamics. The stay provided an opportunity to further develop approaches for tracking drought events in space and time, with a particular focus on their evolution and propagation across different components of the hydrological cycle. Beyond developing new ideas and analytical approaches, the visit enabled a valuable exchange of perspectives and helped push our event-based drought research further. It also deepened our established collaboration and, importantly, opened new directions for joint research with Politecnico di Milano that we are continuing to develop.
