PUBLICATION: Biochar and nano zero-valent iron for metal stabilisation under changing soil conditions

Aikaterini Mitzia et al. recently published an article focusing on the efficiency of biochar and nano zero-valent iron for metal stabilisation in contaminated soil. The impact of time and changing moisture conditions on Zn, Pb and Cd stabilisation using amendments has scarcely been studied before. In this study, various analytical and microscopic techniques have been implemented. Significant metal stabilisation was observed for all the amendments in different conditions while, in general, the soil pH was the main driver affecting metal availability.
