Research of insect body condition in black locust woodlots within arable fields

We predict that the invasive tree black locust affects not only the composition of insect communities but also the traits of insect individuals. Within the course of our GACR project (Non-crop habitat islands within arable fields: local hotspots of biodiversity and ecosystem services?), we decided to investigate the size and body condition of common forest carabid beetles and moths. We aim to test our hypothesis that black locust negatively affects body size and condition
of insects within woodlots (as compared to woodlots composed of native tree species). Sufficient data were collected for the following species: Carabus nemoralis, Abax parallelepipedus, Epirrhoe alternata and Idea aversata.
