A multidisciplinary team, The Bohemian AvantGardeners, from CZU Prague competed in Wageningen University's "Ultimate Greenhouse Challenge" in August. Our master student Brett Gallagher (Environmental Geosciences) participated in this avant-garden project. The team spent the last 9 months redesigning a prison facility in Amsterdam, turning it into a hyper-local food production and marketplace. The key concept of the design focused on using waste streams from the city as resources to grow healthy food, stressing the importance that communities in the future will be required to provide their local needs internally in the absence of cheap and abundant energy.
You can visit their website to download the project and read up on the details of the team's design.
Good example of student's inventive activity!
