Metal(loid) removal mechanisms using biochar coated with layered double hydroxides

The results of a comprehensive study based on international cooperation of our postdoc Barbora Hudcová within the Fulbright-Masaryk Scholarship at the University of Notre Dame was published in a prestigious Chemical Engineering Journal (IF = 13.3)! The research summarizes the role of layered double hydroxides and biochar in removing metal(loid) from aqueous solutions. Furthermore, structural changes of materials under different conditions were discussed in detail. Comprehensive studies such as this one are necessary in order to understand and optimize the behavior of novel composite materials before their subsequent use in environmental technologies.
