Rationalisation of agricultural landscapes to combine production functions with efficient biodiversity support

The aim of the project “Rationalisation of agricultural landscapes to combine production functions with efficient biodiversity support” (ZEMĚ II SMZE2024MZE01) is to optimise the establishment of new non- crop habitats in a way that minimises yield losses while maximizing biodiversity benefits. Our research will focus on creating new permanent boundaries dividing arable fields, existing nectar-rich fallows, newly established nectar-rich fallows and wildflower strips. This research will be incorporated into our EIPC (Ecologically-Informed Precision Conservation) framework to optimize field sizes and shapes, ensuring efficient and practical management. If successful, the project will culminate in developing an application that visualizes optimal landscape modifications based on the EIPC concept, making these recommendations accessible to all interested parties.
