Rationalisation of wildflower strip application to support biodiversity on arable land

Together with our partner farmers from VIN AGRO s.r.o., we launched the project “Rationalisation of wildflower strip application to support biodiversity on arable land” (TAČR SS07010296) this year. The project aims to explore often-overlooked aspects of wildflower strip establishing (such as the potential of regenerative agriculture for their restoration), maintenance (e.g., biomass removal after mowing vs. mulching), and their alternative uses by farmers (e.g., as tracks for agricultural machinery). The goal is to assess the impacts of these practices on invertebrate communities and vegetation development over time. Ultimately, we aim to identify management strategies for sown field margins that are effective in supporting biodiversity and beneficial for farmers.
