Research on solitary bees in wildflower strips

In cooperation with farmers from VIN AGRO s.r.o., we have been deliberately disturbing the soil using agricultural machinery since last season to create suitable microhabitats for solitary bee nesting. We aim to test the hypothesis that occasional mechanical disturbance can benefit biodiversity, challenging the rationale behind the strict ban on driving over these strips.

Supported by the project: Rationalisation of wildflower strip application to support biodiversity on arable land (SS07010296).
