Programme Overview 

The Smart Sustainable Solutions MSc is an interdisciplinary Master’s programme that addresses modern environmental challenges in a global context. Guided by ECOLUTION principles: interdisciplinary collaboration, real-world application, and continuous innovation. The programme brings together universities, companies, and communities across Europe. Students engage in hands-on projects, leveraging cutting-edge research and digital tools to create data-driven strategies for a more resilient future.

What You Will Learn 

The curriculum is designed to provide the technical expertise and problem-solving mindset needed for the smart environmental sustainability sector. Key learning areas include: 
IoT Engineering Fundamentals: Applications in environmental monitoring, smart agriculture, and urban systems. 

  • Smart Grid Optimization & Renewable Energy: Design and manage data-driven energy systems for a low-carbon future. 
  • Circular Economy & Bioeconomy: Develop sustainable solutions for circular business models and resource efficiency. 
  • AI & Data Science for Sustainability: Use artificial intelligence and analytics to solve environmental problems. 
  • Ethical & Policy Dimensions: Explore societal, ethical, and regulatory aspects of deploying smart technologies. 

Learning is delivered through a blend of online modules and two in-person blocks-one at IHU Thessaloniki (Greece) and one at FZP CZU (Czechia)-each lasting two weeks. Students also complete a one-month industrial practice and develop a thesis in close collaboration with industry partners.

The ECOLUTION project is powered by a consortium of leading European universities, research centres, and industry partners, ensuring that the curriculum is relevant and that students have access to real-world projects, mentorship, and job opportunities. The programme is designed for anyone with a background in environmental sustainability, electronic, electrical, computer, or mechanical engineering.

Career Outcomes 

Graduates of the Smart Sustainable Solutions MSc are prepared to:

  • Excel in government agencies, NGOs, consulting firms, and multinational companies.

Erasmus+ Scholarships & Tuition 

Thanks to the support of the Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliances project, up to 40 students (maximum four from third countries) will receive scholarships covering mobility periods and industrial practice, and will be exempt from tuition fees. An additional 10 self-financed places are available. Scholarships are awarded based on admission assessment results.
