Lead: Adéla Šperlová from the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, CZU, has started an internship at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada. She works in the toxicology laboratory of Professor Karsten Liber.
After arriving in Saskatoon, Adéla Šperlová began her internship at the University of Saskatchewan in the laboratory of Professor Karsten Liber, which focuses on toxicology. Her first days were devoted to getting to know the laboratories and the team, and she soon joined the everyday research work.
She has already tried working with uranium-containing water, experiments with fish, sample preparation, work with acids and experiments focused on pH – methods she had not encountered during her studies in the Czech Republic.
“The internship allows me to gain practical laboratory experience I had no chance to encounter during my studies so far, and at the same time to discover a new part of Canada,” she sums up her first impressions.
Her stay was supported by the Faculty of Environmental Sciences from faculty resources, in addition to the funding she had already received. The Faculty’s International Relations Office also supports mobilities outside the Erasmus+ programme; current calls are published on the student intranet.
